Opening Doors: Access, Connection, and Suicide Prevention

Join the MIA VA, community partners, Veterans, families, and caregivers, for a half day summit focused on improving access to mental health and support services for Veterans.

Together, we will highlight pathways to care, housing, and recovery, while sharing practical strategies for recognizing risk and promoting safety and hope.

At the free summit, participants can learn of community resources, VA initiatives, and Veteran support. We will continue to plan for ongoing collaboration.

Show your ongoing support for the mental health of Veterans and others in our community!

The goal of the free event is for health care providers, local stakeholders, current and former service members and their families, and others to

exchange ideas about how best to provide Veterans and their families with information about mental health care.

This year’s summit will have both in-person and virtual attendance options.

Bill will address the critical topics of suicide prevention and intervention, while sharing his mission of bringing Veterans together through connection, understanding, and support. Having spoken across the country as part of the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf War Illness Research Advisory Committee, Bill brings national insight and personal experience to this urgent conversation.

He speaks with honesty about the struggles many carry in silence — shedding light on the dark truths too often left unspoken — and offers hope, awareness, and pathways to support.

Dr. Gloria Lewis -Suicide Prevention Coordinator of the Miami VA Hospital Retires.

Vet Info Founder Bill Watts paid heartfelt tribute to Dr. Gloria Lewis of the Miami VA Hospital, honoring her decades of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to our nation’s Veterans. Dr. Lewis will be deeply missed by her colleagues, and most especially by the Veterans whose lives she touched with compassion, integrity, and care.

Vet Info Co-Founder Bill speaks to Students and Staff at Florida International University about the importance of Giving Back – 22 Janurary 2025.

Vet Info Capt. Bill was invited to Florida International University ( F.I.U.) to spend the afternoon with the Panthers during the Non-Profit 101 Seminar. Bill expressed the importance of giving back, volunteering, and Suicide Prevention in the Veteran Community.
